Review Ganzo G7531-CF

Review Ganzo G7531-CF

Introduction

As you know, we have already reviewed some models from Ganzo. This company has experienced in the last two years one of the biggest transformations seen in a chinese company of cutlery. Improving its quality in finishing and steel (or heat treatment) and taking a huge number of models.

This one that I present to you today, of last batch, undoubtedly is one of the models from Ganzo more
requested by the people loving of the mark. Let's see what makes it so special for it ...

Exterior design and appearance

Well, just look at its appearance and we started to answer the question posed in the introduction, it is all a beauty based on the Protech TR-5 model. A very aggressive aspect of the blade but with a handle not too tactical.

There are times when, when there is a new model of folder knife and you see the first photos on the internet, you know you want it. This is one of them.

General view

It is time to point out that there are quite versions of this knife, with coated or satin blade and with G10 handles (in black, military green and orange) or carbon fiber. The option that i present you is the version with satin blade and carbon fiber handle, within the G753 series would be the G7531-CF.

Closed view

The measurements that we find are: a blade length of 8.9 cm with a width of 3 cm and 3.3 mm of thickness, total open length of 21 cm, closed of 12.1 cm and a weight in the usual digital scale of 123 gr.

The combination of the blade design with the carbon fiber is amazing, although i think it is beautiful in any combination you choose. In addition we can appreciate some blue touches to decorate the set even more.

I have no words to describe how beautiful the blade is, i love it. The steel used in the blade is the classic 440C by Ganzo, improved lately (it has nothing to do with keeping 440C, now it is better than a few years ago). As for blade morphology, we have a flat grind no complete and a "drop point" tip certainly pointy.

Blade detail

The blade comes well centered and with a very good factory sharpening, but sharpening is not so important, blade lovers have to know how to sharpen.

Well centered blade

As for the handle, it is simpler, with the blade making it special, the steel "liners" are not sharpened and fit well, highlighting the elongated lanyard hole. As for the clip, nothing to say, well of hardness and it is possible to change it to two different positions in total, although, it is not made to completely hide the knife in the pocket.

Detail of the texture in carbon fiber

The truth is that it is one of the knives most visually attractive from Ganzo without a doubt, and clearly one of the reasons because it is so wanted and sold.

Handling and use

I found the opening softer than in other models of Ganzo, but it is not to have less friction the blade, is that seems to have less tension the spring of the "axis lock", then retains less the blade and generally opens more smoothly.

The "axis lock" system is used again as a locking system, and as you can see in the photos, the locking cylinder gets into the blade more deeply than in other Ganzo models, which is good.

The cylinder of the axis lock is deeply embedded on the blade
Also note the bronze and plastic washers

To open it we have two options, either with the classic “thumb studs”, without any problem, or letting loose the "axis lock" and opening it from a wrist movement. The opening is quite smooth, meeting with bronze and plastic washers. As for the “thumb studs” of the "axis lock" are smooth and do not hurt the fingers (this in other models may occur).

There is no horizontal or vertical blade play and the lock seems quite firm.

One of the questions that many may wonder is whether the carbon fiber in the handle will be uncomfortable, or slippery or something: well, no problem, does not have as much grip as the G10 but is not slippery like ice either, although very smooth, without any rough texture. In exchange you will get a beautiful texture in the handle where when giving the light according to the angle, you will see the texture of the fiber to change. Anyway as i indicated in the section of design, you can get it in G10 as well. I specifically do not regret having chosen it in carbon fiber, but choose what you choose, i think it will not disappoint you. As for the adaptability of the handle to the hand, has a good and simple ergonomics.

Detail of light focusing on carbon fiber

We found a jimping up the handle with a soft traction, also have drilled the steel liners of the handle to reduce weight, and you feel it. It is pretty light for its size.

Soft jimping

Drilled "liners"

What use can we give to this knife?, well, on the one hand can be an all-terrain, is a good cutter and has enough belly for it, although what stands out is the incredible tip that leads, penetration is assured, without appears as a whole combat knife, but there is no doubt that self-defense is also one of its virtues. But since you can not have everything in a single knife, that tip that fascinates us, so penetrating, at the same time is delicate for other tasks, we should not leverage with it for example. If they had opted for a concave grind (hollow grind) there would still be less material and the tip would be even more delicate, at least the flat grind chosen gives you a bit more strength, but that point is made to penetrate, not to be treated with hardness by levering wood for example.

Final veredict

The folder knife is one of Ganzo's best to date for me. Ganzo has taken a step forward with the latest models that has come to market and improved as a brand. In this model we have one of the most visually attractive folder knives that the brand has done so far. It is also very well done, very soft opening (more than in other models), improved locking system compared to other Ganzo, reduced weight thanks to perforated liners and also thinner than on other occasions...

If it is one of the most desired and sold knives at this time is for something. Essential in our collection.

Final view

Pros

- One of the most beautiful blades of Ganzo to date, and one of the most beautiful of any chinese brand.

- All in all, it is a beauty of design, to admire. It is very elegant too.

- Very good finishes, perfect fit. No gaps, no blade play…

- "Axis lock" better than in other Ganzo models, engages more on the blade.

- One of Ganzo's best models to date. He has climbed a step with the latest models and has improved as a brand.

- Good price for this model, other new models of Ganzo are more expensive. You can not get much more for the price that it has in shops.

- A light weight thanks to the perforated steel "liners" of the handle and also are thinner.

Cons

- Blade with aggressive appearance, can scare people a little. While it does not seem like an extravagant combat knife made for self-defense either. It is elegant but aggressive. It's only a problem depending on where you're going to use it.

- I like that the folder knives with blades with high power of penetration have a more evident guard, by security.

- Delicate tip. We can not have everything, if it is too sharp and thin for penetration we should not force it to leverage for example. You have to know how to use each tool and each blade morphology for what it is. Do not try to nail it to wood and lever, it is not meant for that.
