Review Wuben H5

Review Wuben H5

Introduction

Lately we have reviewed several types of flashlights, EDC type with AA batteries and another more powerful style with lithium batteries. But now it's the turn of another guy, who is quite interesting by the way because of his versatility.

It is a headlamp type flashlight, which is magnetic and can also be used to wear on the head: the Wuben H5.

Design, appearance and build quality

When you see it, one of the things that draws attention is its size, really compact and low weight, that will go well to put it on the headband and to be able to position it on metal and hold the magnet.

Part of the compact design is because you can use AA or 14500 batteries, which are small compared to a higher capacity type. It is always welcome to be compatible with NiMh AA rechargeable batteries.

The body is made of aluminum and meets the IP68 standard, which the brand usually gives its products, this gives it resistance to rain and dust.

As usual, the quality is noticeable in the body of the flashlight and in the threads, which are very smooth to use.

The accessories included in the flashlight are:

 - A support to place the flashlight, which allows rotations on two levels and is also magnetic.

- A headband to put the flashlight and use it from the front.

- USB charging cable.

Regarding the measures we find:

Total length

Width

Weight without battery

Weight with battery

Dust and water protection

7.2 cm

2.28 cm

43 gr

63 gr

IP68

The build quality is very good, as always in the brand, and it shows that it has been thought to be as useful and versatile as possible, I only miss that the head of the flashlight was not fixed and could move up and down.

Handling and use

By grasping the flashlight with your hand we can see how it is very manageable due to its small size, we turn it on with the only button it has, which will also serve to change the mode.

The flashlight offers a light with a good opening, 175º, with which we will have a significant width of light around us. It is more launching than I expected, although the most effective use would be to see around us.

The OSRAM P9 led that it brings offers 400 lumens, something that is very good for the size and type of battery used. Actually the only difference between using lithium batteries 14500 and AA batteries, according to the manufacturer, is that using 14500 in high mode we will have 10 minutes with 400 lumens and then 1 hour and a half with 250 lumens, while with AA directly We have that hour and a half with 250 lumens, there is no more difference in light power or duration between both types of battery with this flashlight.

We have 4 light modes plus an SOS and as for the modes, the separation is fine, you know that I like that when changing the mode it is noticeable in the luminosity, I do not like them when the difference between modes is subtle, so happy with the distribution that has been made of 400/250, 150, 50 and 1 lumens.

The modes and their powers in lumens with 14500 li-ion batteries are:

High

Medium

Low

Moon

SOS

400 y 250 lumens

150 lumens

50 lumens

1 lumen

150 lumens

We must talk about the two accessories that come with the flashlight and that are partly to blame for the flashlight being so versatile:

On the one hand, we have the flashlight itself, which we can place in metallic areas due to its magnetic base, and on the other hand we have a support to place it, which in turn is magnetic as well (but less powerful than the base of the flashlight) and that provides the ability to rotate the flashlight in the angle that interests us (or placing it in a pocket or in the pants pointing forward or hanging ...). Of course, this mount can be used with the headband and be able to have that freedom in the angle of the light beam as well.

As for the tape together with the support, the flashlight remains firm, it does not move or fall, it is perfectly usable when we want to have our hands free for other things.

Final verdict

It is a flashlight that we all would like to have at some point, it can serve as a work flashlight (being L-shaped) and because of its magnetic base and support, which allows it to be positioned in strategic places to carry out operations such as repairs. In addition, we can use it as a headlamp with the accessory it brings, to have your hands free.

By having both the base and the magnetic support, it allows us to put the flashlight on metal objects facing the front, or with a 360º rotation,

The truth is that the pocket clip gives a lot of play because apart from being magnetic, we can place it on clothing to light the front.

Good quality, compatible with AA batteries along with a good amount of accessories, a small, light and well-finished flashlight, highly recommended.

Things that i love

 - That it is compatible with NiMh AA batteries and AA batteries.

 - Its base and its plastic support are magnetic.

 - The magnetic support that it brings, which allows us to better decide the angle of the light beam and its direction.

 - That it has different uses due to the versatility of the design.

Things I would change

 - I would like that the head of the flashlight was not fixed and the angle could be changed up and down, like some work flashlight I have.

 - Something that I did not like is that I have noticed that the magnet on the plastic holder is weaker than the magnet on the base of the flashlight. I wish they had a similar power.
