Review Wuben C2
Introduction
As I seem to have liked the incorporation of flashlight reviews on my blog and YouTube channel, the time has come for another.
You already know that I quite liked the Wuben T2 model and it is great for home and in the field, using two AA batteries, but if we want to go one step further in power... it is necessary to change batteries and switch to lithium ...
The new model of the brand is the Wuben C2, which promises us more light output and which works as a power bank as well.
Let us begin…
Design, appearance and build quality
Just looking at this flashlight, you can see its tactical style, it is built with an aluminum alloy body with heat sinks.
It is built with IP68 certification, which will allow it to be used in
outdoor environments, outside the house, in the field or forest. IP68 or, as
its acronym indicates “Ingress Protection” 68, is the maximum degree of
protection that a device has against the access of particles, such as dust, and
liquids (water, for example).
The manufacturer assures that it can withstand 1 hour under 2 meters of
water, so it is amply protected against falls in puddles, rain or any incident
that may occur. In addition, protection against impacts from a 1.5 meter drop
is ensured.
Being a high power flashlight, up to 2000 lumens, it is necessary to power it with type 21700 or 18650 batteries, but no charger is necessary for them, since directly with a USB cable, the flashlight can be charged.
In addition, the battery is not integrated, so when it loses efficiency
over the years, we simply have to replace it with a similar one and that's it.
One thing that has caught my attention is that it can work as a power bank, that is, the flashlight itself will be able to charge a mobile phone or other device outside the home, without electrical plugs. This means that, if we go to the field, it can save us the power to charge our phone, for an emergency call (or the camera, or any USB device).
Regarding the measures we find:
Total length |
Width |
Weight without battery |
Weight with battery |
Dust and water protection |
12.86 cm |
2.9 cm |
109 gr |
190 gr |
IP68 |
It has a pocket clip, which can be removed or rotated with 360º of freedom,
in addition to being able to hang it, it also prevents it from rolling when
placed on a surface.
The quality of construction and materials is very good, as with the T2
model. And I only have to notice the smoothness of the threads to know that we
are dealing with a quality produc.
When we receive the package, it already brings its battery, a cord to put it on if you want, two rubber washers to replace and a USB charging cable.
Handling and use
The flashlight has a button where you can choose the mode, each one has an assigned
power, it will also serve to turn the flashlight on or off. Of course it has
memory of modes, which for me is essential.
The modes and their powers in lumens are:
Turbo |
High |
Medium |
Low |
ECO |
Strobe |
SOS |
2000 lumens |
1200 lumens |
400 lumens |
130 lumens |
5 lumens |
1200 l |
200 l |
Of course, I have never seen a flashlight with so many modes. This is good
because you can choose very well the lumens you need and therefore the battery
time that you are going to have, I like that they are well separated in terms
of lumens, that you notice the difference between one and the other. However, I
think you don't need two blink modes.
I would highlight several things, one of them is the one that I have commented on the modes, we have 5 light modes (removing the two blinking ones), but it is that simply in the medium mode, which is 400 lumens, which is a lot, we have a duration 5 hour battery life. Or the “low” mode of 130 lumens with 15 hours of light.
The manufacturer indicates a beam of light 358 meters away, which is a lot.
Another thing to highlight is the "moon" mode, which is highly sought after by flashlight fans, and that in this flashlight is called "ECO" it is very little light, only 5 lumens, but we will have 300 hours of autonomy, if someone you get lost in the forest, with the battery charged you will be able to go literally days and days without lack of light at night.
As with the T2 model, something that seems essential to me is that it has a
memory, that it remembers the last used mode. Since, if a flashlight does not
have a built-in memory, when you turn it on it will automatically go to the
next mode compared to the last one we use, so if the last one was the maximum,
when you turn it on again we will surely have the emergency mode blinking and
leaving us somewhat blinded. Like the T2 model, the C2 also has mode memory.
Unlike the T2 model, which modes are of the “bounce” type, those of the C2 model are of the “circular” type, more classic. If we press the button, we turn the flashlight on or off, and if we keep it pressed for a second or so, it changes mode, it increases in intensity and after the highest, it goes to the lowest.
The reflector is of the "smooth" type, I personally prefer the "orange peel" type, because I value light near me more than far, but the smooth reflector will give us more distance in the light. The flashlight throws very well.
I leave some screenshots about the light modes:
Final verdict
If I already liked the quality of the T2 model, I still have the same feeling with the brand, I love its build quality and circuitry.
It is a flashlight with 5 light modes plus 2 emergency, but those 5 modes are very well separated in terms of lumens, so we can choose more precisely the amount of light we need and how long the battery will last.
Having IP68 certificate makes it possible to take it out into the field, it is not a flashlight only to have at home, it will resist dust and water.
Without a doubt, I can recommend this model, as it is one of the best that I have in my collection.
Things that i love
- That it has IP68 certification for resistance to dust and water.
- The "moon" mode, which in this model is called "ECO" is very effective for hours and hours without running out of battery.
- The build quality is very good, just look at the smoothness of the threads, for example.
- I like that it doesn't have a built-in battery that is not replaceable. In this flashlight, when the battery fails or its performance drops, we put another one and that's it. In addition, it supports two different types of battery.
